Bob Koester 1928-2014

My father, Robert (Bob) Koester died on Sunday morning January 6th. It was sudden. He had been sick for weeks but hadn’t told anyone. He was like that. Tough old school. By the time he asked my mother to take him to the doctor, his intestinal infection had gone gangrene, his kidneys were in failure, the infection had spread to his whole abdomen, his heart had swollen and his lungs were struggling to function. It was already too late. They performed surgery to clean the infection and discovered the other problems. He died 24 hours later. The good news is he was sedated when he entered the emergency room Friday night and he never woke up.

The fastest cyclists in the world are descending on Carson.

The world of cycling returns to the Velo Sports Center for three days.

The Los Angeles Grand Prix (LAGP) will serve as a point accumulation opportunity for cyclists to qualify for the UCI World Cups later in the year.  In addition to hosting domestic and international elite competitors the race will also integrate adaptive sport by running events that will make up the 2013 US Paralympic National Championships.

Annual Meals on Wheels Thanksgiving Day Ride!

It's time for our annual Thanksgiving Day Ride for Meals on Wheels. Each year we do this ride as a way of giving back to those less fortunate in our community.

We will meet @ Peets in Brentwood at 7:45 AM for a group photo and depart at 8:00 AM.

We ask that each member (guests are welcome) donate any amount to help our clubs designated charity to provide meals to homebound individuals in the west LA area. Please ask your boss, friends and family to donate to this worthy cause. MOW representatives will be at Peet's with pre- ride snacks and to handle the collection of money. Cash and checks will be accepted. Please make checks payable to "Meals on Wheels of West LA".
