an outstanding member to receive the La
Granger of the Year Award which is presented at the Annual
Awards Banquet on Sunday, November 8, 2009.

This award
acquires its prestige by being from you, the members of
Velo Club La Grange. And it's about people who have benefited
you and the club. So think a bit about your nomination.
Think of those who have made truly valuable contributions
to better the club for you over the past year, those who
have gone out of their way for the club. Include efforts
made on and off the bike - the deserving member who has
served the club, represented the club positively, and
enhanced the club experience for you and other members.

"She's been an outstanding
La Grange Grandmaster this year winning the Gold Medal at
the national Senior Olympics in the time trial. She also
won a silver and many more medals at other events."
- Edgar Burcksen

| Bill
Birrell
|
"All of work with the
senior Olympics."
- Rob Seltzer
"Have
been the driving forces (with Rob Rasner) of the La Grange
Grand Master program.
- Skip Nevell
As a club member for many
years your experiences are always heightened by the efforts
of a few dedicated individuals who always seem to be there
and ready to offer their time and resources over and over
again. Bill Birrell is the prime example of this indivdual.
Bill's membership
goes back 2 decades. Bill's involvement with the La Grange
Grand Masters along with Bob Rasner has produced a new level
of Racing Category that is "Growing and Winning." Bill took
a week of his time at his expense to coordinate and assist
with the Senior National Games this August. Medals were
won with his coaching direction. If you need a ride to an
event, some coaching tips, a cup of coffee, a bar, a referral
or just some conversation, Bill is there. Bill has offered
his residences both in Santa Monica and Solvang for at least
20 club functions over the years. "The Gift", a history
of La Grange, was produced and directed by Bill. This took
countless hours and days to complete and memorializes La
Grange on DVD.
Bill's relentless passion as a club member, cyclist and
ambassador, day after day, make him a true qualifier as
La Granger of the year."

"Bill came out this
year to become the number one supporter and promoter of
the men's and women's elite racing teams. Completely of
his own accord he began coming out to the majority of road
races and crits this year to provide feeds, moral support,
etc. Futhermore, he started a fan blog dedicated to the
Kahala-LaGrange men's and women's teams. He's an unselfish
guy, and it's great to have someone like him around supporting
our racers!."
- Stu Press

| Aron
Gadhia
|
"Aron's leadership
is a priceless contribution to the club. His racing accomplishments
help put the club in the national limelight and his presence
on group rides is a stabilizing and inspiring force. His
quiet demeanor just accentuates his incredible skills on
the bike. I appreciate and trust Aron's judgment and experience."
- Jaycee Cary

Hutner
|
"Putting together a
top-notch women's racing team for 2009. Getting some of
the best riders from so-cal to join La Grange wasn't easy,
all while racing 12 months out of the year and holding down
a full time job. Great job, Amy!"
- Bill Cordero

| Richard
Kim
|
"Richard did a great
job in setting up the first annual La Grange Cup. This was
an event that provided competitive fun for the entire club.
His organizational skills, positive attitude, and overall
ability to produce this was top notch. "
-
Jason Dodge
"For overseeing a fantastic
addition to the club race calender in the La Grange Cup
series. Organizing a street sprints event and a time trial
event for the club added a highlight in the calendar for
racers as well as a great opportunity for some ex- or non-racers
to compete amongst their club mates in a friendly day of
competition."
"This series
will surely grow in popularity each year, and will certainly
be another great reason for riders to join La Grange."
- Joe Pugliese

| Stu
Press
|
"Stu is a huge proponent
of La Grange. He always has a genuine caring towards all
cyclists and likes to help out in a disarming, sweet way.
He has been the face of La Grange ever since meeting him
six years ago and possibly longer than that.... "

"Have been the driving
forces (with Bill Birell) of the La Grange Grand Master
program."

"Jay has year after
year added his magic to many parts of the La Grange experience
and perhaps unknown to many supported our club in the community-
clearing road blocks that we thought to be "insurmountable".
Jay Supported: Piuma hill climb. Brentwood Grand Prix. (BGP)
Been a part of the Tuesday JV and Beverly hills group. He
took on responsibilities for ride communicator. and getting
the word out. Jay's Work in the LA city and local government
groups (Brentwood community council) made possible our 2009
and Likely (based upon highly positive feed back 2010 BGP.
Every day was Race day for Jay and on August 13th he and
a hand full of volunteer's took the coordinaton of the GP
to sucess. I have to say it's tough to get to know Jay cuz'
his bark hides his wonderful and supportive heart. He's
a star that works year after year to make La Grange and
the activities successful The choice in my book - Jay Slater
"
- Marc Thomas
"Jay was instrumental
in orchestrating the Brentwood Grand Prix this year. Without
his many hours of preparation and participation, this event
would not have been the success that it was."
- Joanne Ratinoff
"He has done an incredible
job for the club not only with bike safety but helping out
with many events and great amounts of information in general."
- Lauren Jacobsen

| Marc
Thomas

"Giant among men, the
ultimate supporter of positive cycling habits, training,
and good energy. He is the friendliest La Grange rider I
know of, and hopefully will help to turn around the largely
held public perception of La Grange as being a club of snobby
assholes. No, Marc is on the front wave of turning this
tide around, and he is the ultimate member of this club.
His efforts in promoting the successful Brentwood Grand
Prix are only a fraction of his accomplishments and presence
in our community."
- Alex Amerri
"He has an amazing
passion for the sport and is always willing to donate his
time to help- Sr. Olympics, Brentwood Criterium, giving
away his cycling book collection etc."
- Tom Hill
"He has been so proactive
and productive and spreads nothing but goodwill for this
club. His ego is small and he is just a darn nice guy."
- Heather Baroff
"Countless times I
have seen him go above and beyond in helping others regardless
of being club members or not. He is an outstanding ambassador
for the La Grange club. I joined the La Grange club this
year because of him. He in my opinion is an invaluable asset
of the La Grange club."
