  Castelli Servizio Corse
Castelli traces its roots back to 1876 and a fine tailor, Vittore Gianni, in the heart of Milan. Through the years, Vittore Gianni clothed AC Milan, Juventus, and the Milan Ballet. The first cycling clothing was made in the 1910s for the five-time Giro champion Alfredo Binda. Maurizio Castelli was born in 1948, and grew up following the races of Fausto Coppi, a close friend with Maurizio’s father who was then owner of Vittore Gianni. Coppi always wore Vittore Gianni clothing, including the first silk skin suits designed for Fausto’s time trials. That famous photo of Coppi and Bartali sharing a water bottle while climbing the Col d’Izoard? Yep, both are wearing our jerseys. Castelli After a brief but promising cycling career, Maurizio created his eponymous brand in 1974 and a series of firsts would follow: the first Lycra shorts used in racing and sold to the public, the first colored shorts, the first sublimation printed jerseys, the first synthetic winter clothing, the first use of windproof membranes, the first hydrophilic fabric treatments, the first anatomic seatpad, the lightest jersey ever produced, and the most aerodynamic jersey ever produced. Maurizio’s vision was to be at the forefront of technology, performance and design. Maurizio Castelli died in 1995 while cycling up the Cipressa climb, the next-to-last hill in the Milano-San Remo course. Today, Castelli is dedicated to continuing Maurizio’s dream: to create the most innovative clothing for the cyclist seeking maximum performance.
Although we never forget our heritage, Cannondale and our dealers have come a long way since our birth in a crowded loft above a pickle factory in 1971. The company grew quickly during its early years. We introduced the cycling industry's first bicycle trailer, the Bugger, and added successful cycling apparel and accessory lines while earning a strong reputation for innovation and quality. That reputation proved invaluable when Cannondale introduced its first bicycle, a Touring model, in 1983. We raised the cycling world's eyebrows by building our bicycles around handcrafted, oversized aluminum frames that were both lighter and more flex-resistant than the steel models that dominated the industry at the time. We quickly followed up this success with a road racing model and a mountain bike model in 1984. Our creative reputation encouraged both bike dealers and customers to join the revolution, and widespread industry skepticism quickly gave way to a host of imitators. In 1997, Cannondale was the first company to feature large, oversized aluminum bike frames on cycling's biggest stage, the Tour de France. After powering his Cannondale to four stage victories at the 1999 Tour, the flamboyant Saeco team leader proclaimed "Cannondale is the best bike." With a reputation for shaking up the industry, we continued to push the entire cycling community with the release of our first carbon/aluminum frame, the Six13, flaunting the low weight with prison striped jerseys that read: Legalize My Cannondale. In the last 14 years, we've won five Giro d'Italia Maglia Rosas, arguing that maybe we should add pink to our brand colors. Most recently we won the Girod'Iltalia and the Vuelta a España in one single year! On the mountain bike side, Cannondale started the dual suspension revolution way back in 1990 by introducing the Delta V E.S.T., the industry's first dual suspension bike, and followed it up with the equally radical Super V and Scalpel platforms. Our riders dominated the cross country and downhill scene into the new millennium with the biggest names in dirt like Cadel Evans, Alison Sydor, Missy Giove, Cedric Gracia, Christophe Sauser, Anne-Caroline Chausson, Tinker Juarez and Brian Lopes to name a few. The creation of The Cut freeride crew brought together the audacious riding talents of Aaron Chase, Chris Van Dine and Mick Hannah. Our technologies like HeadShok, Lefty, innovative suspension and optimized aluminum and carbon design directly translated into race victories and riding that continually pushed the limits of what's possible on a bike. Widely regarded as the bike industry's leading innovator with game-changing technologies, Cannondale and its handcrafted bicycles continue to be recognized by organizations from both inside and outside the industry including: Many of the ideas that keep Cannondale products on the cutting edge come from the sponsored athletes on the company's professional racing teams. The feedback provided by the company's riders, combined with Cannondale's best-in-class production processes, fuel a near constant stream of both new innovations and improvements to existing products. With a laser focus on a rider-first mentality, we push our employees, our dealers and the bike industry. These refinements aren't limited to the company's competitive road racing and mountain bikes, however; the insights gained through racing, coupled with Cannondale's quest for constant improvement, have also benefited the company's wide array of lightweight recreational bikes as well as its lines of state-of-the-art cycling apparel and parts & accessories. This is summed up in our mantra to: never settle in our quest to create the perfect ride.

  Peet's Coffee
When Alfred Peet opened a small coffee store on the corner of Walnut and Vine Streets in Berkeley, CA, few noticed that a revolution was brewing. But, Mr. Peet had other plans. Born in Holland, Alfred Peet grew up in the coffee trade and moved to America after World War II. Shocked by what the U.S. called coffee, Mr. Peet opened the first Peet's Coffee & Tea store on April 1, 1966. His style of coffee was unlike anything Americans had ever tasted before – small batches, fresh beans, superior quality, and a dark roast produced a coffee that was rich and complex. By 1969, Peet's Coffee & Tea had become a gathering place for coffee devotees, called Peetniks, and a magnet for other artisan food crafters. The world's first "foodies" congregated in the storefronts around Peet's Coffee and the area soon had a name – The Gourmet Ghetto. The artisan coffee movement was beginning to gain ground. Alfred Peet's influence continued to grow as he inspired a new generation of coffee entrepreneurs, including the founders of Starbucks. Over the past four decades, Peet's growth has been fueled by the ever-increasing numbers of true coffee lovers in the San Francisco Bay Area and across the nation. Despite this growth, we remain true to the same principle that inspired our founder – an unrelenting commitment to quality. Since 1966, our goal has remained the same: we continually strive to raise the bar for the American coffee industry, while always delivering a great tasting cup for those who truly love coffee – for those whom a cup of coffee could only mean a cup of Peet's.

Giro comes from a unique place. Santa Cruz, California’s location—at the intersection of surf and mountains—attracts people of an independent mindset: outdoors people; iconoclasts who set their own priorities, more inclined to put human values ahead of corporate interests. Counter intuitively, it turns out that Santa Cruz, a place where business shuts down when the surf is up, has proven to be a powerful entrepreneurial incubator.
