RACE REPORT: The Victorville Stage Race

The Victorville Stage Race
Four LG racers in the TOP 10 Overall
The Victorville Stage Race was a challenging and exciting event that tested the skills and endurance of all the cyclists who participated. With a 5.5-mile uphill time trial, a 58-mile road race at the George Air Force Base, and a 45-minute criterium in downtown Victorville, the race provided a variety of challenges that kept the cyclists on their toes.
Peter's performance was particularly impressive, as he WON the opening time trial in the Masters 50+ and managed to hold on to finish in 4th place overall in the omnium. His strength and determination were evident throughout the race, and he proved to be a formidable competitor in every stage.
The road race itself was characterized by challenging conditions, with strong winds and difficult terrain making every stage a true test of the cyclists' abilities. However, the organizers did an excellent job of providing a safe and well-organized environment for the participants, ensuring that everyone had a fair and enjoyable race experience.
Morgan James was super strong and consistent. As the only LG woman racer present, she fought like a warrior in every stage. She got 4th in the TT and had the best LG road race performance with an impressive 5th on a hilly, windy, and frigid course.
Nick did what he does best, putting up a stellar 4th place in the TT. Victor also put in a solid performance and is always the model of consistency and efficiency, finishing in 10th place overall in the omnium. New LG racer, Denny Chavez, held his own in the Cat 5s, racing hard and also finishing 10th overall.
Overall, the Victorville Stage Race was a well-run and highly competitive event that showcased the best of the region's cycling talent. With its challenging terrain and varied stages, the race provided a true test of skill and endurance, and it was a pleasure to watch the athletes push themselves to their limits. Congratulations to Peter and Morgan for their impressive performances, and to all the participants for a great race!

The LG Women’s Team Camp
The La Grange Women’s Team had their staycation team camp in March. The weather kept some away and put a kibosh on their Sunday racing clinic but didn’t dampen the spirits of the racers who participated. A big part of team camps just bonding. Teams that bond together, win together. And this team has the most fun in races and training. They are super inclusive and welcome all new racers. Interested in trying racing or doing some training with the team? Reach out to Renée, Laura, or Taisha today.

RECAP: The March LG50 ride
Two LG50s in one month; oh, the embarrassment of riches. The official March LG50 was led by Lisa G and Renée Fox with an amazing SAG by David Newcombe and Jess (?). We had a great group with lots of new faces and rolled to Griffith Park. The weather was amazing and a nice respite from the rain. The roads were in remarkably good condition. The perfect day was only made better when we celebrated the birthdays of Lisa, David, and Larry L. at Gilbert’s El Indio. The food was great, the cocktails were flowing, and there was CAKE! Are you having FOMO yet? Come to the next one!

RECAP: The February LG50 ride
We had our postponed February LG50 ALSO in March. Dan Mitnick led a group of merrymakers out to the valley in what turned out to be a very fun and interesting loop. Again, we had several new faces. (we love and welcome new faces)! It was chilly but really nice with spectacular scenery. Big thanks to Robert and Simon Yates for the SAG. (not THAT Simon Yates. He could never keep up).

TRIFIT CEO fights for wellness and #equalpay!
Gina Baski, CEO of TRIFIT, is on the Board of the California Fitness Alliance and they have been working on a few initiatives. Their biggest initiative is to bring low-cost health club memberships to 14 million Californians that are MediCal recipients. They have submitted a bill that will be introduced to the CA legislature. As Gina states, “If we discovered anything during COVID, it's that disparity exists everywhere, even in fitness.” Read the bill!
She also visited the Governor's mansion two weeks ago for the #EqualPay kick-off. TRIFIT and the CFA continue to work on initiatives to ensure that both the mental and physical well-being of Californians is considered essential, pandemics notwithstanding. Gina joined California's First Partner in her #equalpay initiative in collaboration with the Californian Commission on the Status of Women and Girls.
“We are proud of the dedicated and talented women in the fitness industry and are committed to ensuring an equal playing field for them and all of our employees,” said Gina Baski, a board member of CFA and the CEO of TriFitLA. “We hope other industries will join us in signing the Equal Pay Pledge to ensure the pay gap in California is closed for good.”

CANNON tackles big issues like Flooding & Runoff
Rain, sleet, repeat. Cannon is a multidisciplinary engineering and consulting team that tackles big issues like flooding through transportation and stormwater infrastructure design. The system is designed to capture and infiltrate a minimum of 182 acre-feet per year of dry weather runoff and the first flush of stormwater to reduce pollutant discharge to the Bolsa Chica Channel.
